Velvet Bean Coffee Lounge is a soon-to-launch third-wave coffee concept focused on quality, craftsmanship, and community. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced coffee professional to lead daily operations, team development, and quality control—not just as a manager, but as an equity partner invested in its success.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a passion for specialty coffee, a commitment to hospitality, and the business acumen to balance quality with efficiency. This role requires a proactive approach to operations, including vendor relations, training, workflow optimization, and product sourcing.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the coffee program – Oversee menu development, espresso dial-ins, brew consistency, and quality control to maintain a high standard of service.
Supervise daily operations – Handle workflow, scheduling, ordering, and cost management to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
Build and train the team – Hire and develop a knowledgeable staff committed to excellent customer experiences.
Maintain vendor relationships – Source local pastries and non-coffee beverages, working with partners for tastings and selection.
Foster a welcoming environment – Uphold a customer-first approach where both enthusiasts and casual visitors feel valued.
Stay ahead of industry trends – Continue professional development and implement best practices in specialty coffee.
Qualifications
Proven experience managing a third-wave or specialty coffee shop.
Strong coffee expertise—espresso dialing, manual brewing, milk texturing, and quality assurance.
Leadership skills—ability to train, manage, and inspire a team.
Financial awareness—ability to control labor, waste, and cost of goods while maintaining quality.
Experience sourcing and maintaining vendor relationships.
SCA certification or equivalent experience in barista skills, brewing, or sensory evaluation.
Entrepreneurial mindset—a drive to take ownership and grow the business.
Must be willing to relocate if necessary
